When you're ready to move your toddlers from their little potty training chairs to the big times—we're talkin' the BIG potty—the Munchkin Sturdy Potty Seat makes the transition a breeze.

Something old, something new

I remember being very excited when it was time to incorporate the potty training seat into our routine. I'd done a lot of research and checked out a bunch of options and, ultimately, landed on Munchkin's because of its ease-of-use, its portability, its sturdiness, and the fact that it was highly rated by other seasoned parents.

One day, while the twins were napping, we moved the training seat into place and added Dreambaby's 2 Step Stool to THE BIG POTTY, hoping our twins would think it was cool and feel encouraged to try them out.

Because they were already so familiar with their previous privy set-up, we kept one of our BabyBjörn potty chairs right in the same bathroom and easily accessible for the moments where both twins had to go right now, or in case they felt more comfortable on that one on a certain day, and they use both set-ups every single day.

Fit for a king (and queen)

When our toddlers woke up and it was time for the big unveiling with the Munchkin training seat and Dreambaby stool, one of my twins walked into the bathroom, took in his new surroundings, reached out and held my hand, regally strolled up the stairs, carefully spun around, and plopped himself oh-so-daintily onto the Munchkin seat.

He reached down and gingerly grabbed the easy-grip handles. His face was priceless.

He surreptitiously gave his brother a smug, side-eyed glance, as he played it aloof outwardly.

His face said, "Just woke up from a nap and was first to sit on the big kid potty without being coaxed. No big deal. Nothing to see here. Now, bring me a snack; I may stay a while."

He was clearly chuffed and so proud of his new, big kid facilities.

And I'm just as pleased because this training seat has been a worthwhile investment as we potty train our twins.

Durable and secure

It's incredibly easy to use. Installation took literally one second…just place the seat onto your existing toilet seat. You're done. This training seat fits nearly all standard toilets, so you should be in the clear, but if you want to be extra sure, it's 13.5 inches long by 3.38 inches wide.

The non-slip rubber grip bottom helps prevent the seat from moving around, keeping your little ones stable and secure when they're in a very vulnerable position.

This is huge. It removes any fears your twins may have about using the full-sized toilet because they don't need to worry about needing additional support or that they might fall in.

The seat is just their size and it's contoured to fit their little frames…it's not going anywhere.

Plus, it's well-made and impressively durable. We place, use, and remove this training seat multiple times a day, and it's still in completely pristine condition.

And so is the Dreambaby 2 Step Stool, which is perfect for helping your toddler to climb up to the potty and is easy to move over when they're finished to help them wash their hands afterward.

This is the Dreambaby 2 Step Stool. It can hold up to 175 pounds (I sit on it without any issues during their bathtime and it provides some solid support!). It's available in gray and white or aqua and white.

With Sure-Grip rubber placed on each of the steps on the stool, you can rest assured your little ones will be more sure of their footing when they climb it to use the toilet or wash their hands.

Confidence-building

With the Munchkin Sturdy Potty Seat, form meets function to help your toddlers build up their confidence, so they're ready to take on this potty business.

When you're looking at potty training seats, they can all start to look basically the same. But, where this seat takes things to the next level is with its handles.

While other seats aim to sit more flush (pun intended) with the toilet's seat, the Munchkin seat is designed to sit flush, while also providing sturdy, toddler-sized handles, helping your little ones feel secure and in control at all times.

This feature, combined with the non-skid base and built-in splash guard (an absolute must for anyone who is training boys), means you'll encounter zero messes for number ones OR number twos.

Lightweight, compact, and easy to clean

If you aren't already convinced that this is a welcome potty training seat for your household, let's talk about how lightweight and compact this baby is.

It's ultra-lightweight, clocking in at only three-quarters of a pound (12 ounces) and the back side is designed to incorporate "feet" for simple and convenient stand-up storage, either beside or behind the toilet.

The seat is solid; you just have to place it down on the ground and it stands on its own.

You don't have to do any sort of magic balancing act, which, let's be honest, nobody wants to worry about after making their way through dual potty sessions with their toddlers.

Or, if you prefer not to have the training seat parked on the floor, you may want to investigate Munchkin's Hooked Potty Ring Storage Hook.

Its space-saving design is only four inches by one inch, so it sits flat under the toilet tank lid, hanging on the side of the tank. This hook allows you to hang the potty seat (Munchkin or most other ring-style brands) off of the floor.

This potty seat by Munchkin is super easy to clean (say, "Thank you!", parents of multiples!). It can be cleaned as needed with soap and water.

But for the most part, at least with our twins, all you really need is a quick wipe-down for any erroneous drops.

Don't ditch the diaper pail just yet

While it's exciting to say goodbye to daytime diapers when you begin potty training, keep in mind that you're in the potty training transition zone.

This means that you're still going to be using either diapers or pull-ups for naptime or overnights, so be sure to keep your diaper pail on-hand for disposing of those.

The Munchkin Step Diaper Pail is our favorite diaper disposal unit for twins. You can read all about why we love it and how amazing it is, here.

Once we started potty training our twins, we moved our diaper bin out of the nursery. From that point on, we no longer do changes in their bedroom and all official potty business has been moved into the bathroom, where they now use a combination of their BabyBjörn potty chairs and their new favorite household item, the Munchkin Sturdy Potty Seat.

And while this seat is for, well, having a seat, I say it deserves a standing ovation.
